The opening reception will be held at the Wayne State University McGregor Memorial Conference Center on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 6:00 pm with cocktails and appetizers.

 

 

The conference excursion will be a private tour at the Detroit Institute of Arts Museum.

The DIA was founded in 1885 and its collection is among the top six in the United States, comprising a multicultural and multinational survey of human creativity from prehistory through the 21st century. A hallmark of the DIA is the diversity of the collection. In addition to outstanding American, European, Modern and Contemporary, and Graphic art, the museum holds significant works of African, Asian, Native American, Oceanic, Islamic, and Ancient art.

 

 

 The conference banquet on Thursday, May 21, 2015 will be held at the Detroit Historical Museum on the “Streets of Old Detroit.”   
 

 

The museum chronicles the history of the Detroit area from cobblestone streets, 19th century stores, the auto assembly line, toy trains, fur trading from the 18th century, and much more.

 

Besides planned activities, the participants are encouraged take advantage of the superb location of Wayne State University campus for their social activities. Several major Detroit museums are located adjacent to WSU campus. These include The Michigan Science Center (http://www.detroitsciencecenter.org/), Museum of African-American History (http://www.maah-detroit.com), as well as several others (see http://www.detroit.com).
